Step Out: Walk to STOP Diabetes


It is that time of the year again. Team Garcia is getting together to raise money and awareness for diabetes. We walk because:

7.1% of non-Hispanic whites
8.4% of Asian Americans
12.6% of non-Hispanic blacks
11.8% of Hispanics

Hispanics/Latinos have the second highest percentage of those living with diabetes. My Tata and my Tia's are part of that 11.8%. We walk because 3 times a week my Tata goes to dialysis and a 4 mile walk once a year is the least we could do to help. To support him, to let him know how much we love him and are so happy that he is taking care of himself. 

Tomorrow we will leave and the butt crack of dawn, dressed in our 80's best to join the rest of Team Garcia for our annual walk.
