"This is a paid review for BlogHer Book Club but the opinions expressed are my own."
I have been a fan and reader of Jenny "The Bloggess" Lawson for many years. This book as been on my to-read list since the day it was released. I cannot believe it took me so long to finally sink my teeth into it. Anytime I read books by blogger who I read religiously I am afraid that it will be stories that I have already read. And when it comes to The Bloggess it's like "She cannot have anymore crazy ass stories". But she does.
These stories are cray-cray. Like dead squirrel puppet crazy. Like digging up dead dog crazy. Like too many laxatives and your cat is going to rape you crazy. Yet somehow Jenny manages to show her vulnerable side. To really show how depression can derail a person. How having a really stable and loving husband can make all the difference. (Seriously, her husband comes out of this book looking like a Saint. Hmmmm maybe Victor should run for Pope?) Jenny manages to show that even with the "unusual" childhood she had she has still managed to find the lessons in her life.
The book is funny, at times pretty f'ed up, and touching.
So totally read this book and head over the BlogHer to join in on the discussions.
