I devoured this book in just a couple of days. As a working-Mom with 2 kids that is a HUGE accomplishment. I loved this book. It was like Sweet Valley's Jessica Wakefield meets, Regina George, meets the indie film Young Adult meets Freaky Friday meets the Butterfly Effect.
The story is about Lissy Ryder and the book starts with Lissy at her low point. In high school Lissy was the leader of the mean girls. She married the hunky captain of the football team and lived a charmed life, until she didn't. When her husbands wants a divorce and she loses her job she finds herself back in her bedroom at her parents house. To top everything off, her 20th high school reunion is coming up. Lissy see these reunion as a way to build a new business, instead it becomes a harsh reality check. Her classmates, who she terrorized in high school were now successful and full of resentment toward Lissy.
The morning after the reunion Lissy finds herself hung-over and with a new-age life coaching type classmate. She gives Lissy an ancient Incan potion. When Lissy wakes up the next morning she finds herself right back in high school. Lissy has a chance to make things right. But at what cost?
This was such a fun read. I loved all the 90's and current pop culture references. It took me about 10 chapters to figure out she was naming them all after 80's rock songs! I think because I was in high school in the mid-90's this book was even more enjoyable. It was so good that I am looking forward to reading more from Jen Lancaster.
This book hits on topics that all of us can relate to. Head over to BlogHer and join in on all the fun and conversation.
