Miles Apart

After a long day with the girls Joey called me from Florida. He had had a long day of traveling and after we got off the phone it sunk in that he was across the country and I could literally feel the miles between us. Joey and I are those annoying kind of couples who are always together. Mostly because we are far from friends and family so it has always been just us. Also because we just really like hanging out together. It is so strange to be so far away from him. I miss him, of course, but I feel the distance between us.

Of course I am anxious with Joey, Elaine and Kelly driving across country. But after what happened at dinner today I feel a little better.....

After a long 8 hours at the office and heading over to a little community fair we needed dinner. The Phi wanted to go to Gramma's and I wanted to go somewhere else. She was insistent and since I was not up for the battle we went to Gramma's. After we settled in and ordered 3 middle school age kids walked up to our table. They explained that they were on a church group scavenger hunt. They needed to find a woman with 2 kids. So we let them take a picture with us and they began to walk away. Then one of the boys came back and asked me if I needed any prayers. At first I thought "Nope I'm good" but then I thought about my cross-country travelers. I told the kids about my husband and his journey and right there on the spot we held hands and they prayed for a safe journey for Joey.

Now I am not a very religious person, but the idea of these complete strangers, these kids, were praying for and thinking about a safe trip for Joey made me feel better. I will not completely relax until he walks through the front door, but that encounter with these kids was pretty awesome.

  2. Awww. That totally sounds like something my son Noah would do. He is always willing to pray for someone, even strangers. God knew you were feeling anxious, so He sent someone to comfort you. Very awesome!
