While we were in Santa Barbara a few weeks ago the weather was amazingly gorgeous. Really we had no other choice but to go to the beach.
See me and the beach have this special connection. I love it. I love sand on my feet I love the smell and love being in the water. There was a summer back in like 02 or 03 when my sisters and a few cousins and I didn't work and spent almost everyday on the sand, surfing and bbq-ing, fire pits and blankets. It was one of the most amazing summers of my life.
The first time I took The Phi to the beach when she was old enough to get into the water she wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. She didn't like the sand and you couldn't get her near the waves and I was heartbroken. I wanted my daughter to have the same love for the ocean.
I am happy to report that the beach is growing on her. She had a blast making sand castles with her Poppa and even got her little toes in the water with me.
Just her toes. Anytime the waves come closer she screamed like a girl and ran.
We walked the wharf and enjoyed the day.
And I was happy because I had visions of me and The Phi with our wet suites and surfboards walking to the shore and having another amazing summer.

Does Joey like the beach?
ReplyDeleteCyrus absolutely loves it. When he was younger, he would just start running towards the water and dive right in... wait.. he still does that. Only back then it was scary because he was around two! Every time we go to the ocean, I have to give him "the talk" because he scares the crap out of me.
Oh now I'm longing to go surfing....
