The Phi got a very cool shout-out today from my fellow "creative, educated, and beautiful" Chicana, Pear Mama. Head over and check it out, leave her a comment. Tell her how beautiful her little girly-girls are!

Why judge a person by how educated they are. An education does not make you a good/great person. You should judge a person by who they are within. Is this Pear Momma a good person???

by no means was I judging her by her educational background. Just finding some qualities we share.
ReplyDeleteShe is a mother of 7! an artist, a teacher, and a very good person. She is funny and kind, easy going and talented. She is there to offer advice or just to send a quirky comment to make me laugh. She shares her talents by teaching kids art in the very little spare time she has (7 kids!) and yet she still manages to find time to make her beautiful artwork and even show her pieces in shows. She knows the importance of cultivating herself in order for her to be good to her kids.
I could go on and on.......
Good for her!
ReplyDeleteI am fortunate enough to have earned a PhD, and I just hate when others are judged by their educational back-ground. I never tell others about my educational back-ground, because I feel that it takes away from the “PURITY” of accomplishment(s). I hate tooting my own horn! We should all do good for the good of it! We should not expect anything in return for doing something positive. By sharing how educated or creative one is, I see that as being selfish because people sub-consciously are expecting to get phrased for what they have accomplished.
I do not want to offend you. Shoot… I do not even know you. I am simply MIXING-IT-UP!!!

Thanks for mixing it up El Mexicano! I do have to kind of sort of disagree with you. I don't judge people by their educational background, but I do think that when someone has earned a degree of any kind really does say something about a persons character. As you know (and I know) earning a college degree takes hard work and commitment.
ReplyDeletedone and done, dude.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess I should speak for myself, huh?
ReplyDeleteEl Mexicano...I agree with you that an education does not make a person "good" or better than the next person. I've met some pretty jacked up educated people! I am married to a man who isn't "educated" in the academic sense, but he has taught me many, many things about life that I couldn't have possibly learned in my little brown pride world in college. If you really want to know if I am a good person, you should read my blog...that will give you an idea of who I am. I'm not saying that will prove my "goodness" but it'll give you glimpse of my heart.
And Elissa...thanks for the love, sister. You made me smile!
