Hunger Strike

I wanted to teach my kid all about civil disobediance. All about a good protest and standing up for injustice. But this is ridiculous. She is refusing to eat. Anything I put in front of her she will not put in her mouth. If I try to feed her anything she will turn her head and hid it in her chair cushion. If I leave it for her to eat she just feeds the dog or smears it all over the tray. This has gone on for days. What is she protesting? Is she against the war? Is she pro-stem cell research? Does she want to bring back Crystal Pepsi? Is she pro-whales? Anti-Dolphins? It is driving me crazy. Things she use to like before she turns her head at. I can get her to munch on a few Cherrios here and there but nothing else all day long. For days now. Do toddlers do this? Do kids who were once good eaters just turn on you in the blink of an eye? Because frankly we can't afford for The Phi to be a picky eater these days.

  1. Yes it happens. She is exherting (sp?) her power. Don't worry when she is hungry she will eat and even if it seems like days, she is fine. Now if it goes on for weeks I might be concerned but I have heard this from several mothers--especially around this age group.

Ha Ha. Welcome to being a mother of a toddler! Elias goes through phases where all he wants to eat are chicken nuggets (from McDonald's--thanks to Rick) and chocolate pudding.

  3. Welcome to the life of a Toddler's Mom! I remember those days.. unfortunately.
It will pass, next she'll rebel against the clothes she wears.. and it'll have nothing to do with sweat shops or hemp wear either!

    Toddler Property Rules

If I like it, it's mine.
If it's in my hand, it's mine.
If I can take it from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
If I'm doing or building something, all the pieces are mine.
If it looks just like mine, it's mine.
    If I think it's mine, it's mine.

    Great blog, love the pics...

  4. It's normal. AJ is going through the same thing, although he only does it when I'm trying to feed him. When he's at Grandma's house during the day and his auntie feeds him, he is fine. At home, he throws a tantrum and will do like The Phi... bury his head in his highchair or purse his lips to not eat. The only thing I have been succesful with have been chicken breast nuggets and fries that we bake and scrambled eggs. Have you tried just giving her more finger foods (i.e carrots, meat sticks, etc,)? Our kids really are sooo much alike. I would also LOVE for them to meet and play!

OMG, those Toddler Property Rules are sooo true! Cute!

AJ is going through a hitting phase right now.. he hits us when we tell him no or take something away from him and then he starts hitting himself! It's sacring me and time-outs are not working. Help!!!!
