NPOTB (New Parents on the Block)

Here is a picture from our first stop on Thanksgiving day. With the 20 pounds of mashed potatoes safely in the car we stopped at my best friend Jessica Mom's house. I met Jessica on the first day of Kindergarten back in 1981. We have been best friends since. She currently lives in Northern California and that little boy in her arms is her pride and joy. Jessica is a very successful woman, but anyone can tell that her son is her proudest accomplishment. He looks just like her too. Before we went over there I called to see if it would be okay for us to stop by. I told her that it would be in a hour or so because Sophia had just gone down for a nap. She said that the timing would be perfect because her son had just gone down as well. These types of conversations with Jessica are still strange to me. It seems like yesterday that we were in class debating about what our wedding invitations would look like when we married one of the New Kids on the Block. Could that much time pass already? I always knew that Jess and I would be friends forever. I knew that a picture like this, of us holding our children would eventually materialize. Has that time come already??
